Welcome to Southend City Council's Diet and Nutrition support. We hope that you find the resources on these pages helpful whether you are looking for advice when planning for a baby or your needing advice now that your baby has arrived.
You will find useful information on breastfeeding, bottle feeding and introducing solid foods.
Children need to eat well to establish good eating patterns with a variety of food groups to ensure they grow and develop appropriately, to protect their teeth and to ensure they arrive in school at a healthy weight and ready to learn.
Eating well whilst enjoying a variety of minimally processed foods is essential for children in their early years, but at times you may face some challenges. You will find some helpful tips on the age-related pages that may help you.
The Health Visiting service work closely with the local Family Centres to offer support and advice to help you and your family stay safe, happy and healthy. If you feel you would like to speak to a member of the team for further support or advice around feeding or you have other concerns about their health or development, please contact us.
