Patriot Explorer Scout unit was formed in 2009 to help encourage young leaders back into scouting. Over the last 10 years we are delighted and proud to announce 16 new warranted leaders. We also have a further 8 young leaders who are currently working in different sections within our District to gain both Explorer and Duke of Edinburgh awards.
Affiliated to 4th Thorpe Bay Scout Group, Patriot ESU participate in running meetings during each term and hold joint camps which provide good links between the sections.
Weekly programs are planned and arranged by Explorers and facilitated by leaders to offer an active and meaningful program which encourages Personal Developments, Leadership, Self Confidence and most important Team Work. Explorers will have plenty of opportunities to participant in UK camps and international expeditions, as well as canoeing, climbing, walking, community projects, British Pedal Car Championship, National Monopoly Runs to name but a few. We also have all the essential camping and hiking equipment.
All Patriot members have an option to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, We have achieved 3 Gold, 20 Silver and 50 Bronze awards over the past 10 years. with a further 16 members working on Bronze, Silver & Gold awards in the Thorpe Bay, Southend, Southchurch, Shoebury and Wakering areas.
