The Megacentre (Active Christian Trust) exists to bring Joy Hope and Life to our Community. A Christian charity, our services are open to all, of any faith or no faith. Our not for profit business of softplay, laser tag, party venues and room hires generate income to sustain our charity. Our Communities team consists of Family and Youth Workers and committed and caring Volunteers who share our passion to serve our neighbours.
We seek to do this in a number of ways:Family Work
We work with families, parents, children and young people who might need a little support or friendship, someone to come alongside them to help weather the storms that life sometimes throws at us and just some fun and relaxing times to have together as a family. We support families who have a child with any additional need, young parents, new parents (after all, children do not come with a manual!), parents of teenagers – all through one to one meetings over a tea or coffee, parenting sessions, groups and family fun sessions.
Youth Work
we work with young people who might need someone to talk to about the variety of topics that can sometimes worry them, somewhere to have some fun and relaxation, some intentional longer term mentoring, emotional and mental health support and sports sessions to improve physical and mental health and promote healthy activities and friendships. We will be starting a counselling service for young people shortly which we hope will help to improve mental health and wellbeing for our younger residents.
Community Work
The Megacentre team has been instrumental during the Covid19 pandemic in leading the response to support residents; this includes working in partnership with local government, Churches, Charities, Community Leaders to provide a telephone helpline open to all Rochford District residents, shopping/collecting medication and other practical support, such as the provision of food parcels.
Building on this work, a community resilience hub, TheHub@TheMegacentre has been created to continue the fantastic relationships that we had before the pandemic and since, that have continued to grow over this period, across both Rochford and Castle Point, to carry on supporting our neighbours as we emerge from the pandemic and start our recovery as a community. Community partners will be able to share our spaces with us – hot desk space, meeting and conference rooms, and activity rooms, to deliver their own services or to work in partnership with each other or us.
TheHub@TheMegacentre will enable residents from across both Rochford and Castle Point districts to have an accessible, flexible, welcoming and safe space to meet, get support, advice and information and socialise, reducing isolation and loneliness, improve both mental and physical health and begin to recover from the pandemic which has affected us all in so many ways.
