Description

Cake Club is a registered charity offering parenting support and solidarity in the Southend area. We run in-person support and playgroups in a number of locations, with something on offer every day of the week.

Cake Club was born out of a desire to provide support for parents in a non-judgmental and caring environment. To help parents to feed, carry, nurture and respond to their babies. It began in 2018 with two mums who wanted to provide the support and help that was not readily available when they had their first babies. Our beneficiaries are families of varying structures mostly with children under the age of 5 years old, yet we have no age limits on access.

One of Cake Club's continued key priorities is to offer safe spaces with zero judgement; however, we also know that taking your child to groups and other activities with predominantly neuro-typical families, can take a lot of planning, preparation and confidence which can be difficult to muster even when others are so welcoming.

We launched our Cake Club SEND Sessions in November 2023 to help some of our most vulnerable children and families maintain routine, consistency and familiarity, whilst providing solidarity to the adults caring for them. The venue we use benefits from having purpose built soft play and sensory rooms which are available exclusively to our families during our sessions.
