What information can I find on this page?

This page has information about:

  • what choices there are for vulnerable adults
  • what support is available for those at risk of homelessness
  • safety in the home
  • links to pages which have advice for those who have served in the armed forces or who are veterans

You can also use our housing directory in the right hand column for information on local services. These services could include care homes, sheltered housing and local advocacy agencies.

Care homes and sheltered housing

If you are not able to look after yourself in your own home, Southend-on-Sea City Council will firstly try to provide you with support at home. If this support is not effective, you might like to consider moving to a Care Home. For information about this, please see Care homes and sheltered housing on the Southend-on-Sea City Council website.

South Essex Homes manages and maintains 20 sheltered housing schemes on behalf of Southend-on-Sea City Council. Please see this page for how to contact South Essex Homes: Sheltered housing

Homelessness

If you are at risk of homelessness, take a look at Harp. They can provide:

  • emergency accommodation
  • hostel services
  • programmes to help people improve their lives

The Southend-on-Sea City Council Housing Solutions Team can help you if you are homeless, or if you are likely to lose your home soon. It is best if you approach the team as soon as you are threatened with homelessness as this gives them more time to prevent you from becoming homeless and a greater chance of success. For more information, please see How we can help - The Housing Solutions Team on the council website.
