Mental Health for children and young people
We all need a bit of help sometimes. It can be difficult to know how, or who, to ask for help if you are feeling sad, anxious or depressed, or are having other mental health problems.
If you need urgent help or out of hours help you can call the NELFT out of hours phoneline service on 0800 995 1000.
Young people aged 11 to 19 living in Southend can also access ChatHealth, a secure and confidential text messaging service. The service allows young people to easily and anonymously get in touch with a School Nurse for advice and support about a range of areas including:
- relationships
- bullying
- alcohol
- healthy eating
- mental health
- self harm
- drugs
- smoking
We do not usually tell anyone else if you contact the school nurse. We may tell someone if we were worried about your safety, but we would normally speak to you first.
