This page shows how you can get free IT equipment and Wi-Fi in Southend.
The SECH Hub
The Digital Housing Hub project runs from the Hub.
It offers free access to computers and support from volunteers. They help more people build the digital skills and confidence to get online. They can show you how to use mobile phones, tablets and PC’s.
Support and guidance can be given on many digital issues that you may face.
The Hub is open Monday to Friday from 10am – 4pm.

Libraries are slowly reopening. Only the computers at the Forum are available for now.
Computers have 1 hour free use. They must be booked by calling the number below.
Open between 10am – 4pm.
There is a one way system and sanitising procedures in place. A mask must be worn.
All computers are on the first floor and a lift is available.

The Job Centre has a reduced computer service. Customers need to book in advance for the same day or next day.
There are 2 computers available. Each has a 1 hour maximum slots.
Computer 1: 10am, 12pm and 2pm
Computer 2: 11am, 1pm and 3pm
The hour after each booking is for sanitizing the areas.

This service is an outdoor, free WiFi service. It covers:
- Southend town centre,
- Central seafront,
- Hamlet Court Road,
- Leigh Broadway
It gives people access to fast, efficient internet connectivity. You need to register to use the service. To register you will need to give either:
- An email address and a few details,
- Your Facebook log-in details.

Wavelength
They give equipment to people that are lonely.
You need to be referred by a professional or someone that has known you for a while:
- Social worker,
- Neighbour,
- Voluntary service.

Free Wi-Fi with BT
BT will give those in need access to hotspots via a voucher-code system.
This gives kids access to the internet on up to 3 devices. This is for 6 months (until December).
This is only for education. The codes will give access with full content filtering. It is for children up to 16 years old. If they are a care leaver the age is 24.
