AFTAID - Aid for the Aged in Distress
Who to contact
We give financial relief to older people who fall through the 'safety net'. Due to ineligibility or receipt of partial funding through statutory or voluntary services.
It makes emergency grants for
- other white goods
- essential home repairs
Contributions are made towards more expensive items; e.g. a walk-in shower, motorised scooter (EPV), or a stair lift. Applications are considered towards the cost of a respite holiday for an elderly carer.
What will AFTAID provide a grant for?
Nearly anything that will take away hardship from the day to day life of an older person. In recent years grants have been made to provide, or help in the purchase of:
- Mobility scooters
- Walk-in showers
- Washing machines
- Rise/recliner chair
- Tumble Drier
- Small Emergency House Repairs
- Essential or Emergency House Cleaning
- Central Heating Boiler
- Video Intercom Installation of phone line
- TFT Magnifier
- 'Blind' software for PC
- Wheelchair power pack
- Wheelchair access ramp
- Bath Lift
