Patriot Explorer Scout Unit

Please find below some information regarding our unit.

• Patriot Explorer Scout unit was formed in 2009 to help encourage young leaders back into scouting. Over the last 10 years we are delighted and proud to announce 14 new warranted leaders. We also have a further 6 young leaders who are currently working in different sections within our District to gain both Explorer and Duke of Edinburgh awards.
• Affiliated to 4th Thorpe Bay Scout Group, Patriot ESU participate in running meetings during each term and hold joint camps which provide good links between the sections.
• Location – We meet in school term time at Thorpe Junior School, Greenways Southend-on-Sea, – Wednesday Night 7.45 – 9.30 in the main School Hall which provides a safe and functional space to meet.
• Weekly programs are planned and arranged by Explorers and facilitated by leaders to offer an active and meaningful program which encourages Personal Developments, Leadership, Self Confidence and most important Team Work. We also arrange visits to other units and compete in all the district lead competitions. Explorers will have plenty of opportunities to participant in UK camps and international expeditions, as well as canoeing, climbing, walking, community projects to name but a few. We also have all the essential camping and hiking equipment.
• All Patriot members have an option to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, We have aachieved 3 Gold, 20 Silver and 35 Bronze awards over the past 8 years. with a further 14 members working on Bronze, Silver & Gold awards in the Thorpe Bay, Southend, Southchurch, Shoebury and Wakering areas.

We also have all the essential camping and hiking equipment. We strongly recommend giving Explorers a go before committing to buying a uniform and paying subs.
