Child Protection is the concern of everybody living in Southend. If you are concerned that a child is being abused or neglected, or that they may be at risk of harm, you should contact:
The First Contact Team 01702 215007 during office hours,
Emergency Duty Team 0845 606 1212 out of hours, or
Essex Police in an emergency on 999.
Southend also has a Local Safeguarding Children's Board (LSCB) the co-ordinates safeguarding and the welfare of children within the borough.

Referrals from members of the public can be made by phoning or emailing the First Contact Team.
Referrals from professionals require a completed Early Help Assessment unless the referral relates to an immediate safeguarding concern. Where there is a safeguarding concern requiring immediate action the referral can be made to First Contact by telephone and followed up with an Early Help Assessment within 48 hours.
