Health Visiting

*** Following advice from Public Health England and the Department of Health, face to face Health Visiting clinics and appointments may need to be cancelled due to Coronavirus – should you be affected by this, you will be called and a telephone consultation will take place. The safety of children, young people and their families is important to us and therefore we have taken this necessary action to minimise the risk. If you would like to speak to a member of the Health Visiting team for further advice or support, please do not hesitate to contact us. Alternatively, useful information can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ ***

Health Visitors aim to promote the health and well-being of families with children under the age of five.

They encourage healthy lifestyles, support families with addressing concerns about physical and mental wellbeing, as well as readdressing health inequalities.

Health visitors are currently based in the Civic Centre and Children's Centre’s alongside the School Nursing Team.  All health visitors are registered Nurses and or Midwives with an additional qualification in Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN).

The service aims to work in partnership with families and with other local providers of services for children and families. In addition, Health Visiting teams link with the School Nursing Service once the child enters school.

Health visitors lead on the National Healthy Child Programme (birth to five years) and universally offer health reviews and support to families at home or in a community venue.
