Message to parents/carers of children and young people with SEND, about January 21 school closures
Following Monday evening's announcement regarding school closures, we have been liaising with our school leaders and the Department for Education (DfE) to look at the implications and requirements for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) in Southend.
We recognise that this is a difficult and anxious time for families, and so we want to make sure the information we give is accurate. We are expecting further guidance from the DfE imminently and will update the Local Offer as soon as possible. Additionally, the Parent Carer Forum, Southend SEND Independent Forum (SSIF) will update their social media pages with any additional published guidance.
In the meantime we will be working with our Parent Carer Forum, Social Care and Health colleagues, Schools and Settings to ensure we co-produce the right information and guidance for our children and young people with SEND and their families.
If there is any support or guidance that you feel would be helpful to you at this time, we are keen to hear from you. We can't guarantee that we can put it all in place but we will do whatever we can. Please share any suggestions or comments you have with your Parent Carer Forum at email@example.com
