Enhancing the future for young people with SEND
Southend-on-Sea City Council are developing a Preparing for Adulthood Strategy to enhance the future of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are inviting the community to participate in two important engagement sessions led by Kate Clarke, Preparing for Adulthood Advisor. Learn how to get involved and be a valuable contributor to the Strategy.
The Southend Preparing for Adulthood team supports pupils in year 9 and above who have an Education Health and Care Plan. The team focuses on four key outcomes when working with young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These outcomes aim to support their transition into adulthood and promote independence.
- employment opportunities and higher education
- developing skills for independent living
- encouraging active participation in society
- maintaining good health as adults
