Appeals

Appealing a Decision

If you disagree with a decision about your child's travel assistance, you can appeal through a two-stage process:

Stage 1: Review by a Senior Officer

You must submit a written request for a review within 20 working days of receiving the decision.

In your request, explain why you disagree with the decision and provide any relevant information.

A senior officer will review the case and provide a written notification of the outcome within 20 working days.

Stage 2: Review by an Independent Appeal Panel

If you are not satisfied with the Stage 1 review, you can request to escalate your appeal to Stage 2.

You must make this request within 20 working days of the Stage 1 decision.

An independent appeal panel will consider the case and provide a written notification of the outcome within 40 working days.

Further Action

After the appeal process, you have the right to complain to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman if you believe there was a failure to follow the correct procedures or other irregularities.
