Additional support for some children and young people at school

Some children and young people need extra support at school. Most needs are met through targeted support. This is called `SEN Support` (SEN stands for special educational needs).

You can expect there to be 4 stages to this:

  • assess
  • plan
  • do
  • review

The extra or different support will be agreed with you. It will be written down in a Personalised Plan. In Southend, this is often called an Individual Support Plan (ISP) but your school may call it:

  • a Pupil Passport
  • Support Plan
  • Education Plan, or
  • One Plan
