Skin to skin and talking to your newborn

Skin to skin

Did you know holding your naked baby on your bare chest (inside your t-shirt if it is cold) brings so many benefits? Skin-to-skin regulates your baby's heart rate and temperature, can relax them, and help you to bond. The best opportunity for this interaction is after you have bathed your baby, first thing in the morning or during feeding. This is such a wonderful time, and you will enjoy the opportunity to have a father-baby bonding experience.

Talk to your newborn

Every word you say helps your baby develop language skills and strengthens your relationship. Positive interaction is important from day one. Smile, sing and read to your baby. Give them a running commentary of your day, the tasks you are completing, and the football scores will keep them happy and help them develop gurgles and coos in no time.
