Infant feeding support

You may not be able to breastfeed, but you can support your partner by ensuring they are comfortable with pillows and bringing them water and snacks. Mums will get very thirsty when breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding can be extremely exhausting and overwhelming for both you and your partner particularly in the early days so ensure you have enough support from professionals and be there to reassure your partner. If your partner is bottle feeding support them by allowing them to rest while you feed and bond with the baby. Reassure them they are doing well and while they feed make them comfortable and bring them snacks to keep their energy levels up.

Do seek help from our Specialist Infant Feeding team as soon as you are worried about any aspects of feeding.
