Who is a young carer?
A young carer is someone aged under 18 who provides care for a friend or family member unable to manage without their assistance due to:
- illness
- disability
- mental health issues
- addiction
Older young carers are sometimes referred to as young adult carers, and they may have distinct support requirements compared to younger carers.
There is a range of support that can be offered to Young Carers.
